In 2020, GOPC helped @CleDevAdvisors & @FinanceFund evaluate their Opportunity CLE Neighborhoods Initiative’s Year 1 impacts & released an annual report. This thread shares highlights from the CDFIs’ excellent work in @CityofCleveland #OppCLE #GOPCThread

Opportunity CLE Neighborhoods received $5M from JPMorgan Chase to support development in the Glenville, Clark-Fulton, & Buckeye/Kinsman neighborhoods. Over 3 years, the Collaborative will also deploy $3.75M from CDA-CRF to attract projects aligned w/neighborhood priorities.

In Year 1, Opportunity CLE Neighborhoods exceeded expectations; it provided technical assistance to @neohcc, which was essential for the success of the mixed-use building inspired by Clark-Fulton’s multicultural neighborhood: CentroVilla25. #GOPCThread

Opportunity CLE Neighborhoods closed on a loan to support Pivot Center for Art, Dance & Expression, a historic renovation project turning a former manufacturing facility into a neighborhood arts & community space in Clark-Fulton. #GOPCThread

Opportunity CLE Neighborhoods closed on a loan to support @provhouseCLE in opening its 2nd location—renovating a vacant building in Buckeye/Kinsman into a crisis nursery for at-risk children. #OppCLE #GOPCThread

The 2 projects that received loans, per their Community Benefits Agreements, will create 67.5 FTE jobs & 81 construction jobs. Furthermore, CDA-CRF requires that all borrowers commit to providing mentor-protégé & contract opportunities for MBEs, FBEs, & SBEs. #OppCLE #GOPCThread

Opportunity CLE Neighborhoods helped create 148.5 jobs in @CityofCleveland to date, including construction jobs for minorities who have historically been underrepresented in the industry. #OppCLE #GOPCThread

Opportunity CLE Neighborhoods expanded neighborhood CDCs’ (@Famicos, Metro West Community Development Organization, & Burton, Bell, Carr Development) capacity by awarding each a $120,000 grant to use over 3 years. #OppCLE #GOPCThread

During COVID-19, Opportunity CLE Neighborhoods pivoted to establish a $300K small business COVID-relief grant program for neighborhood businesses—serving 73 small businesses & retaining 263 jobs; the Collaborative entrusted the award decisions to the local CDCs. #GOPCThread
